Nearly 1,000 Romblon residents benefit from DTI’s ‘Diskwento’ caravan

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — Close to 1,000 residents of Odiongan, Romblon, took advantage of the three-day Diskwento Caravan organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Romblon. During the caravan, they purchased discounted grocery and agricultural products.

According to Mary Grace Fontelo, DTI Romblon’s Information Officer, the event was part of the Consumer Welfare Month celebration in October. Ten micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) participated in the event, offering a range of products at lower prices.

“This Diskwento Caravan by DTI Romblon aims to meet the needs of our consumers by providing items at more affordable prices,” said Fontelo.

In total, the participating MSMEs recorded sales exceeding P600,000 during the event.

Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, highlighting how the caravan provided much-needed relief from the effects of inflation.

“I am thankful because this Diskwento Caravan by DTI is a big help in purchasing commodities available here today. It provides savings,” Aima Casinto, a shopper, told PIA Romblon.

DTI said that the Diskwento Caravan served as an important initiative to support local consumers during challenging economic times, while also promoting local businesses in the community. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
