Nearly 190,000 travelers flood airports during Christmas -BI

MANILA, (PIA) — The Christmas rush at Philippine airports marked one of the busiest periods of the year, with nearly 190,000 travelers recorded on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), there were a total of 52,437 arrivals and 41,895 departures on Christmas Eve, while Christmas Day saw 47,669 arrivals and 44,192 departures.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado recognized the dedication of immigration officers who remained on duty during the holidays to ensure smooth travel for passengers.

Our officers are committed to providing seamless services despite the surge in traveler numbers during this peak season,” Viado said.

The agency has already issued reminders about the expected increase in passenger volume as many prepare to travel for New Year celebrations.

Travelers are encouraged to arrive early at airports and complete their pre-departure and arrival requirements to facilitate a smoother process during the holiday rush. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
