Nearly 4,000 runners support Open Government Partnership Event

MANILA, (PIA) — Nearly 4,000 participants joined the first Open Government Partnership (OGP) Fun Run on Sunday at Quirino Grandstand, raising funds for Philippine Red Cross humanitarian programs.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) organized the event as a prelude to the upcoming OGP Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting in February.

Participants could choose from 3km, 5km, and 10km race distances.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the run aimed to promote transparency and participatory governance, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s governance agenda.

Proceeds will support Philippine Red Cross humanitarian initiatives.

The event was conducted in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and multiple corporate sponsors.

The fun run serves as a community-building activity highlighting government accountability and public service principles. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
