CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 invites innovators, enterprises, and changemakers in Northern Mindanao to submit their entries for the 2025 Filipinnovation Awards.
The award, established through National Innovation Council (NIC) Resolution No. 1, series of 2024, aims to recognize Filipino innovators ready for early-stage commercialization. It supports the national agenda of fostering innovation and economic growth through new solutions.
“Northern Mindanao has always been a hub of creativity, resilience, and ingenuity. With the strong presence of our innovation enablers, universities, incubators, and research institutions, we have a real chance to make an impact on a national stage,” said NEDA-10 OIC regional director Richard Cua.
This year’s award categories include Learning and Education, Health and Well-being, and Food and Agribusiness, based on the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) 2023-2032 and the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028.
Judging criteria include 30 percent for sustainability and scalability, 30 percent for marketability, 30 percent for potential impact and relevance, and 10 percent for innovativeness.
NEDA-10 encourages innovators to submit their proposals by the deadline of March 20, 2025. To qualify, applicants must be Filipino citizens or Filipino-owned businesses that are legally recognized under Philippine law. Additionally, they must submit proposals for early-stage commercialization (Technology Readiness Level 7) and be registered with either the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) or the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Fifteen finalists will be selected, with five Filipinnovator awardees receiving prizes and post-competition support. The top five awardees will receive up to P3.5 million, while ten national finalists will receive P 250,000 each, subject to tax.
Entries can be submitted via the competition’s online platform at https://filipinnovation.neda.gov.ph/. (JAKA/PIA-10)
