Negros Oriental’s LCAT-VAWC functionality gets 96% rating

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — The Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) of the provincial government has garnered 96 percent rating this year.

The result was presented by DILG representative Jalvin Jane Angel showing that PCAT-VAWC is a highly functional council in the implementation of measures against human trafficking and VAWC.

During the assessment, PCAT-VAWC secretariat Alberta Abrio said the committee is assessed based on its functionality in the areas of organization (10 percent), Meetings (10 percent), Policies, Plans, and Budget (30 percent), and Accomplishments (50 percent).

“Ang atung quarterly committee meeting perfect man. And we also conducted several training and advocacy campaigns,” said Abrio.

(We have achieved a perfect score in the conduct of quarterly committee meetings.)

The PCAT-VAWC has organized several trainings on trafficking in person and VAWC cases, multi-disciplinary team training, gender sensitivity trainings, and gender responsive on recognizing online abuse, among others.

Abrio said the provincial government has funded and supported all the programs, projects and activities proposed by the LCAT-VAWC.

Assistant provincial prosecutor Emmylou Bendannillo, deputy chair of PCAT-VAWC, thanked the member-agencies of the committee for their accomplishments and for introducing innovations which added value to the implementation of anti-trafficking and anti-VAWC programs.

The committee is a local mechanism established at the local levels which serves as the policy and program coordinating and monitoring body of anti-trafficking and violence against women and their children’s efforts. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
