New Abacan bridge now open, boosting connectivity in Angeles City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) has announced that the newly constructed bridge over the Abacan River is now open for public use, offering a vital link to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in Angeles City.

Spanning 70.7 meters, the new Abacan Bridge—built under the agency’s Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) initiative—connects Barangay Ninoy Aquino and Barangay Pulung Maragul with a durable design that includes bored pile foundations, piers, abutments, and a reinforced deck slab.

The project also features approach roads, intersections, and pedestrian-friendly elements such as sidewalks and guardrails, enhancing safety and accessibility while fostering economic growth, enhancing emergency response, and supporting urban development in the community.

Now fully operational, the bridge provides a faster, more efficient route for residents and businesses, ensuring seamless travel and improved mobility across the city, while demonstrating DPWH’s commitment to sustainable urban progress and delivering practical benefits for residents.#
