CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — Thousands residents in Ortiental Mindoro will now have ease in transporting their goods and farm products following the completion of the newly constructed bridge in Pinamalayan town by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Southern Mindoro District.
The bridge, located at Barangay Lumangbayan, involves the construction of a 238.50-square meter, two-lane bridge with a single 25.00 linear meter span and 590.00 linear meter retaining wall with concrete guardrails and solar LED roadway light, a report by DPWH Southern Mindoro District Engineer Annielyn E. Padullo to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan revealed.
With the completion of the Lumangbayan Bridge, it could cater to over 15,000 residents of Barangays Lumangbayan, Sta. Isabel, Ranzo, Pili, Banilad, and Guinhawa.
Accordingly, the project will facilitate the efficient transportation of commodities and socioeconomic services including education and healthcare.
It will also provide a significant link to the tourist attractions of Pinamalayan, mostly beaches, which contribute to the economic development of the town, said DPWH MIMAROPA in a social media post.
Padullo said that the completion of the bridge is in line with the goal of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to connect isolated areas to foster growth and development.
Meanwhile, Project Engineer Diosdado V. Romey said that the communities in the area can now experience easier means of daily transportation.
He said that the flow of goods and services will be improved through this project and will also support local tourism by connecting beach destinations that promote economic activities in Pinamalayan.
The recently-completed Lumangbayan Bridge project is the 3rd bridge in Brgy. Lumangbayan in Pinamalayan town, which is a continuation and completion of the Lumangbayan PCDG Bridge. The first and second bridges were simultaneously completed in 2022. (AN-OJT/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro/Story and photos from DPWH MIMAROPA)
