ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, 05 May (PIA) – Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center (ZDSMC) now has a new Digital Breast Tomosynthesis Mammography Machine that can detect breast cancer in women at an early stage. It costs around P20 million.
Governor Yu highlighted the importance of early detection of breast cancer during the blessing of the machine, emphasizing the great help women’s health can benefit from it.
The acquisition of the digital mammography machine is a milestone for ZDSMC, as it is the first of its kind in Zamboanga del Sur.
Radiologist Dr. Kizmar Arani Pueblo of ZDSMC said it would make easier for women to access medical services related to breast cancer screening and treatment.
Congresswoman Divina Grace Yu expressed her gratitude to Senator Bong Go and the Department of Health for supporting the installation of the equipment.
This development is expected to make the process of screening for breast cancer more accessible to women in the province, as they no longer need to travel far to undergo mammography tests. It is anticipated to help reduce the incidence of breast cancer in the province by providing early detection and treatment options.
Governor Yu, is joint by local officials on Thursday, along with Dr. Agnes Fernando from the Department of Health and personnel from ZDSMC, led by Hospital Chief Dr. Anatalio Cagampang Jr., during the the formal blessing of the digital mammography machine by the Center for Women’s Health.
