MANILA — The construction of the 19-storey Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Bagong Pilipinas Building at Filinvest Corporate City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City was formally launched on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and FDA Director General Samuel A. Zacate led the ceremonial groundbreaking, joined by First Lady Maria Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, Budget and Management Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman, and Assistant Secretary Charade Mercado-Grande representing Health Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa.
Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozzano Rufino B. Biazon, DPWH Assistant Secretary Nerie D. Bueno, and DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan were also present at the event.
The new office building, with a total floor area of approximately 29,136 square meters, is expected to provide a more conducive workspace with modern amenities and features catering to the needs of FDA personnel.
“The FDA plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the health and safety of Filipino consumers. Through the completion of this office building project, we aim to reinvigorate and inspire dedication and passion of the dedicated men and women of FDA even further,” said Secretary Bonoan.
Currently, the FDA Central Office is housed at the Experimental Animal Laboratory (EAL) Building, which was constructed in 1987 in Alabang. (DPWH)
