New flood control structure enhances flood resilience in Dingalan, Aurora

MANILA — Department of Public Works and Highways – Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal announced the completion of a P28.95-million flood control structure in Barangay Butas na Bato, Dingalan, designed to protect local residents from water-related hazards.

The project features concrete slope protection on a steel sheet pile foundation to stabilize the riverbank, grouted riprap for erosion control, and a box culvert for efficient drainage, ensuring better water flow management.

“Dingalan has river systems that must be carefully managed to prevent flooding, especially during heavy rains. This flood control structure in Barangay Butas na Bato not only addresses immediate flood risks but also enhances the province’s resilience to future natural disasters while protecting the environment,” Andal said.

Funded through the 2024 national budget, the 299.4-lineal-meter project is a key step toward ensuring the long-term sustainability and safety of the area, while also fostering economic stability by reducing flood-related disruptions to local businesses and livelihoods. (DPWH)
