New La Union police chief vows to intensify anti-crime efforts

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – Newly-installed La Union Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Heryl Bruno, has pledged to bolster anti-crime efforts in the province by increasing police visibility and implementing innovative crime prevention strategies.

PCOL Bruno replaced PCOL Dante Lubos, who has served for over two months as officer-in-charge (OIC) and is now designated to the Police Regional Office 1.

The new top cop hails from Malolos City, Bulacan, is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Sinag Laya Class of 2002, and has served the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit as commander in Malolos, Bulacan.

Brigadier General Lou Evangelista, director of Police Regional Office 1, represented by Jovencio Badua, Jr., presided over the assumption ceremony held recently at Camp Diego Silang here.

It featured the symbolic turnover of the office symbol, the property book, and the folder of existing plans, programs, and activities of the police force.

“I deeply expressed my commendation to Colonel Lubos for his unwavering dedication and exemplary service during his tenure as OIC of LUPPO. Thus, I am confident that PCOL Bruno will boost the law enforcement activities of the La Union police and make a significant stride in protection of the people,” Evangelista said.

In his message, PCOL Bruno underscored the importance of maintaining peace and security for sustained progress in La Union.

“We will also address the concerns of illegal drugs, criminality, and other forms of lawlessness with resolve, while also upholding human rights and the dignity of every constituent in La Union, which is part of continued efforts from the previous administration,” he added.

He also cited the significance of community engagement, transparency, and the relentless pursuit of justice in achieving the goal.

Moreover, he assured his unending support to the Provincial Government of La Union, led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, to work hand in hand as a team, fostering an environment of professionalism, mutual respect, and innovation.

“Our mission is clear: to create a safe, secured, and progressive province that our people can be proud of,” the police official added.

As he begins his journey to leading the La Union police, Bruno asks for the full commitment from the personnel and the constituents of the province through working together for the betterment of the province. (AMB/KJCR/PIA La Union)
