BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon start the construction of a P20 million medical building at the Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital (ESPH).
Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Gov. Ben P. Evardone led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Medical Arts Building Project at ESPH compound in Borongan City on September 19.
The three-story building with a rooftop will have an Out-Patients Department (OPD) at the ground floor including two pediatric rooms, quarters, and a visitors lounge.
In his message, Revilla assured that he will allocate an additional P50 million to complete the project.
“I will allocate an additional P50 million for the completion of this building to benefit our fellow citizens here in Eastern Samar,” Revilla said.
Tatay Edgar, a 57-year-old patient at ESPH, said the building is good news for all Estehanons.
“Maupay kun sugad kay maiha na liwat in nga building ngan nagsusuruksok na danay an mga pasyente,” he added.
(That’s good news because this building is already old and overcrowded with patients.)
Gov. Evardone thanked Revilla for his support and stated that the building will be named Senator Ramon “Agimat” Revilla Sr. when completed.
“Sa ngalan ng bumubuo ng provincial government, ng mga taga Eastern Samar, taos puso po kaming nagpapasalamat sa iyo, at nararamdaman namin ang iyong pagmamahal,” Evardone added.
In an interview, Revilla mentioned some bills he authored and co-authored that are now being implemented as laws, including the Extended Centenarian Law, the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act for teachers, and the No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act for students.
He is also proposing a bill to lower the retirement age of government employees to 56 from 60 years old.
After the groundbreaking ceremony, Revilla and Evardone distributed food packs to patients at ESPH.
Earlier in the same day, Revilla also distributed financial assistance to over 2,000 student beneficiaries under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) at a program at the Provincial Capitol Gym. (VTG, PIA Eastern Samar)
