MAGSAYSAY, Lanao del Norte (PIA) — The newly constructed municipal hall building in this town has been officially inaugurated.
Featuring a state-of-the-art design, it is also the first two-story municipal hall building in Lanao del Norte equipped with an elevator to accommodate pregnant women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
The construction of the new municipal hall began in 2020 under the leadership of Mayor Haron D. Omar, Sr., following an initial allocation from then-2nd District Rep. Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo’s congressional budget for Phase 1 with P10 million. However, work was temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, Senator Aquilino Martin “Koko” Pimentel III provided additional funding of P35 million through the Department of Public Works and Highways, which enabled the project’s completion on September 15, 2024.
Omar emphasized that all municipal departments will have individual offices to ensure efficient public service for the people of the town. With this, municipal employees are excited to transfer to their respective offices. The eight Sangguniang Bayan members, including the Sangguniang Kabataan Federated President and Association of Barangay Councils President, will have their own dedicated offices.
The mayor also highlighted how Magsaysay has changed from a remote area into a growing tourist destination.
“Nakita ang Magsaysay nga nag-uswag ug nagmalambuon. Nakahimo kita og usa ka tourist spot sa Magsaysay, Jardín de Rachma, nga karon usa sa ipasigarbo, dili lang sa probinsya sa Lanao del Norte kundi sa tibuok Mindanao ug tibuok nasod sa Pilipinas,” he said.
(Magsaysay has progressed and developed. We have created a tourist spot, Jardín de Rachma, which is now a source of pride not only for Lanao del Norte but for the entire Mindanao and the whole country.)
Meanwhile, Department of the Interior and Local Government Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Bruce Colao commended the local government’s efforts in the construction of a new municipal hall, which contributes to better governance and improved services for the residents.
