MANILA, (PIA) — A dedicated wing for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 is now operational that streamlines immigration procedures for both departing and arriving OFWs, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced the launch during a press briefing on Monday.
“This initiative supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve and modernize government services for OFWs, recognizing their vital role in the Philippine economy,” Castro said.
She mentioned the Bureau of Immigration and noted that the OFW-exclusive wing was established to ensure quicker and more efficient immigration processing.
The new facility began operations on April 9 and is designed to accommodate the increasing number of OFW travelers.
According to Bureau of Immigration data, more than 3,400 OFWs leave the country through NAIA daily.
The bureau also highlighted the necessity for specialized lanes to facilitate their travel. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
