BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) – The Department of Health and the provincial government of Mountain Province continue to partner for the delivery of efficient and quality health care services in the province.

The new Outpatient Department (OPD) and Laboratory Building of the Bontoc General Hospital (BoGH) began operations on January 13, 2025.

It provides a range of OPD services including medical check-ups, laboratory tests, and drug screenings.

Located in front of Barangay Upper Callutit Basketball court in Bontoc, the new building is very accessible, and eases the crowding of the Emergency Room as well as the hospital premises.

“The first floor is being occupied by the Outpatient Department, all services are in there except for the Dental Services. The second floor is being occupied by our laboratory. Aside from the laboratory, we also have the drug testing. The third level will be occupied by the Provincial Health Office and the fourth level will be a conference hall,” Provincial Health Officer Annie Claire B. Pekas said.

The DOH funded the building through its Health Facilities Enhancement Program, and was implemented by the provincial government through its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The provincial government also funded the generator, guard house, and waiting shed while the solar pump was implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways with funding from former Senator and current Education Secretary Sonny Angara.

Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr. assured that the health sector remains a top priority of the provincial government. (JDP/VJLT-PIA CAR, Mt. Province)
