New school building soon to rise in MariSci

MARIKINA CITY, (PIA) — Good news! A new home for students and teachers of the Marikina Science High School (MariSci) will soon rise.

The Department of Public Works and Highways – Metro Manila 1st District Engineering Office officially started the construction of a mid-rise school building that will replace the existing old and dilapidated two-storey school building and address the limited face-to-face classes.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan promised to deliver the long-awaited mid-rise school building to the students and faculty of MariSci with quality and on time.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Senator Aquilino Martin “Koko” Pimentel III, Marikina Rep. Stella R. Quimbo, Marikina City Vice Mayor Marion Andres, DPWH Usec. Eric A. Ayapana, DPWH Usec Roberto R. Bernardo, DepEd Asec. Joyce DR Andaya, DPWH-NCR Assistant Regional Director Gerard P. Opulencia, District Engineer Aristotle B. Ramos, Assistant District Engineer Lamberto C. De Leon, and other officials.

According to DPWH, the building will feature 29 fully air-conditioned classrooms, specialized science rooms, a laboratory, an auditorium that are well-ventilated and safe with a fire protection system, and a modern interior designed to be solar powered, sustainable, and PWD-friendly. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
