DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) — The construction of a new two-storey, four-classroom school building at Pangaoan Integrated School in Rosales, Pangasinan, is set to significantly enhance local education.
Esperanza Tinaza, information officer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 1, said the project, recently completed by the DPWH-Pangasinan Third District Engineering Office, is expected to address the growing educational needs of the community.
She highlighted that the new facility is designed to meet the increasing demands for educational space and modern amenities.
She said the project, with a total project fund amounting to P11,736,764.95, was funded through the General Appropriations Act of 2024 under the calendar year 2024 Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF) of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Tinaza said as the student population at Pangaoan Integrated School continues to rise, the addition of the new building will provide essential classroom space and modern amenities aimed at enhancing the quality of education.
“Beyond its primary purpose as an educational facility, the building is also designed to serve as an evacuation center during emergencies, such as typhoons or floods, which are common in the region, benefiting nearby barangays such as Camanggaan and San Isidro,” she said.
She emphasized that the dual-purpose design underscores the facility’s value not only for students but for the wider community, enhancing both educational and emergency preparedness capabilities.
Meanwhile, Maribeth Galano, a graduate of Pangaoan Integrated School in 1988, expressed her joy and pride in seeing her alma mater grow and improve.
“Mabuti na at mayroon ng ganyan. Bilang graduate ng Pangaoan Integrated School, nakakaproud na lumalaki at nag-i-improve ang aking mahal na paaralan,” she said in an interview.
