LAL-LO, Cagayan (PIA) – – The remote community of Bical, Lal-lo, Cagayan will soon have its secondary school following the groundbreaking ceremony led by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lallo, the Department of Education, and the Natures Renewable Energy Development Corporation (NAREDCO).
The construction of the school building is a partnership endeavor between the local government and NAREDCO, while the one-hectare lot is a donation of 13 families.
Mayor Florante Pascual said the project is a testament to the power of collaboration with various institutions, partner organizations, and communities, especially the NAREDCO, which donated P14 million to construct the first four classrooms.
“This collaborative effort underscores the importance of united leadership in achieving common goals for the betterment of our community,” the mayor said.
The mayor also stressed that the establishment of a new school facility is proof that the local government prioritizes the education of young learners.
He said students from the community will no longer travel to the poblacion for how many minutes and spend much to attend classes. There are over 40 grade 7 students who will serve as the pioneer students of the school who are temporarily housed at Bical Elementary School.
“We believe that investing in education is investing for the development and the bright future of Lal-lo,” Pascual said.
ACEN Senior Vice President Anabele Natividad, on behalf of NAREDCO, said the project aims to instill the value of education among learners, especially those in the marginalized sector.
“Our company does not only give opportunities, but we also want to give inspiration to everyone and hope to the young learners to be future leaders,” Natividad said.
DepEd Regional Director Benjamin Paragas, who graced the groundbreaking ceremonies, said the opening of the Bical National High School is a manifestation of the government’s thrust to provide quality education in the countryside.
Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Conrado Columna expressed his gratitude for granting his request to put up a secondary school that will benefit not only young learners from his barangay but also from the neighboring communities.
Vice Mayor Ma. Olivia B. Pascual also said the 13 family donors of the lot were also recognized as they were instrumental to the realization of the establishment of the new national high school.
She also expressed her gratitude to other local officials and agency partners who have contributed to the establishment of the school. (OTB/PIA Region 2)
