New Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange to decongest Southern Manila Route—Sec. Bautista

MANILA — Seamless travel between Metro Manila, Laguna, and Batangas is in store for commuters as the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Arca South Integrated Terminals, Inc. of Ayala Land Inc. broke ground on Monday the Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX), a multi-modal terminal seen to duplicate the success of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista said the TCITX is aimed at rationalizing transfer points of people and goods in the country, especially for the commuting public coming from Laguna, Cavite, and Batangas.

The integrated terminal exchange will establish an effective interconnection between different transport modes and services, he said.

The transport chief pointed out that once the structure is operating, it will decongest the southern portion of Metro Manila while providing travelers efficient and accessible transportation.

“This project will be instrumental in decongesting major thoroughfares and offering a smoother journey for the riding public,” Sec. Bautista explained. “We eagerly anticipate its completion and operational launch in 2028.”

A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project, the 5.57-hectare TCITX has 160,000 passenger capacity and can accommodate 5,200 vehicles daily.

The TCITX will include passenger terminal buildings, arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage handling facilities, and park-ride facilities.

Similar to the PITX, the TCITX will feature passenger-friendly facilities.

Once operational, the TCITX will have interfaces with the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway (SEMME) or C6 Expressway through entry and exit ramps, the North-South Commuter Railway System (NSCR), and Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP). (DOTr)
