CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 2 has completed a P10 million-worth one-kilometer concrete access road project in Sitio Diwagden, San Jose, San Mariano, Isabela.
Funded under the DSWD’s Kabit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services program, the project has a total budget allocation of P7.34 million and is complemented by a local government counterpart fund of P3.14 million.
DSWD Undersecretary Alan Tanjusay highlighted the project’s impact on approximately 7,754 households in the area.
“This road will facilitate the easier and faster transportation of agricultural products, enhancing access to essential services like medical consultations and educational resources,” he stated.
Tanjusay emphasized that the project aims to improve the connectivity of the local communities and is expected to benefit beyond Sitio Diwagden, affecting 19 barangays in the town.
“With this road, farmers can reduce transportation costs and deliver their products to market more efficiently, improving overall quality of life for residents,” he added.
San Mariano Mayor Edgar Go expressed gratitude for the new access road, acknowledging its importance for the community’s development.He said the project represents a significant step toward uplifting the living standards of the local population and fostering economic growth in the town.
