Newly paved road in Sibugay town addresses motorists’ safety woes

KABASALAN, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Zamboanga Sibugay 2nd District Engineering Office has completed the paving of 1.985 linear kilometers of access road connecting Barangay Banker to Barangay Sininan, this town.

This infrastructure upgrade improves connectivity for motorists, ensuring safer and more efficient travel. It also boosts local economic growth by improving access to markets, reducing transportation costs, and attracting potential investments.

Mylinda Lacaya, a resident of Barangay Sininan, expressed her appreciation for the road improvement project. She emphasized that it will make her daily commute easier and safer.

“I regularly drive our motorcycle to deliver goods to my buyers, so I’m thankful for this road improvement. It will make travel safer, especially at night, and allow me to reach Barangay Banker more easily,” Lacaya said. 

The project is expected to boost the community’s economic activities.

The improved road is anticipated to positively impact the overall economic activities of Barangay Sininan, Barangay Banker and the surrounding communities, uplifting the livelihood of the residents. 

The better road condition is set to benefit both residents and businesses. The upgraded infrastructure is projected to have a positive impact on the area’s overall development.

The project, funded with P90 million pesos from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2023, included several enhancements. These include the installation of pipe culverts, stone masonry, grouted riprap metal guardrails, and thermoplastic pavement markings for improved nighttime visibility.

DPWH Zamboanga Sibugay 2nd District Engineering Office is committed to enhancing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for local communities through sustainable development projects.
