BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — Residents of 26 clustered barangays of the city can now access better health services at the newly renovated Lucban Health Center in Baguio City.
The two-storey healthcare facility features a triage area, consultation room, minor operating and treatment room, pharmacy, autoclave area, sputum collection corner, physician’s room, nursing office, family planning room, prenatal and vaccination room, adolescent room and midwife’s office, lounge, hand washing area, garbage collection area and pantry.
The health center also installed rainwater catchment facility for efficient water management, and energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures, and inverter appliances that optimize energy consumption to help reduce ecological footprint. About 80 percent of the facility is also coated with air-cleaning paints to improve indoor air quality.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and city health officials received the remodeled health facility from SM Foundation Executive Director for Health and Wellness Connie Angeles on December 18, 2023.
This public-private partnership project is a big boost to the health programs of the city government as the facility caters to 26 Baguio barangays with around 38,000 population.
“Thank you very much! Please convey to the Sy family our heartfelt, sincere and profound gratitude for this Christmas gift to Baguio. It will help us attain our target for Universal Health Care,” Magalong said.
The SM Foundation, the charity arm of the SM group of companies, initiated the renovation of the Lucban health facility.
Angeles said that SM Foundation, founded by its late visionary Tatang Henry Sy Sr., has remained steadfast in his commitment to transforming lives creating a lasting impact, especially in communities in the country.

Angeles shared that the Lucban facility is the 201st health center improvement project of SM Foundation in the country, and the third in Baguio City.
Inspired by the quality and environment-friendly design of the Lucban Health Center, Magalong is pushing for other PPP projects with SM Foundation, also on health facilities. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
