Nearly 6K Dgte residents fully vaxxed vs COVID-19

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July 21 (PIA) -- Around 5,890 qualified residents in the city have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of July 20.

A fully vaccinated individual refers to a person who has received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

However, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said they must continue to wear face masks and face shields, observe physical distancing, and frequently wash hands and avoid crowded areas to remain safe against COVID-19 infection.

Of the 5,890 fully vaccinated residents, 4,099 belong to priority group A2 or senior citizens, 905 under A3 or persons with co-morbidities, and 886 under A1or the medical frontliners.

Meanwhile, 8,986 residents are set to receive their second dose based on the schedule provided to them in their vaccination cards and confirmed by the health workers.

Remollo has instructed the City Health Office to accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination rollout as he requested for additional supply of vaccines from the national government.

Around 20,766 total doses of COVID-19 vaccines, both Sinovac and Astrazeneca, have been administered for the first and second doses at the two vaccination sites in Robinson Mall and Pulantubig Gymnasium. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
