Galing Pook to award Outstanding Local Governance Programs

CALOOCAN (PIA) – To recognize innovative local programs in the country, the Galing Pook Foundation will hold its virtual awarding ceremony to ten outstanding local governance programs on Wednesday, October 20.

Despite its search process done purely online, the foundation still received overwhelming entries nationwide. From 206 total entries received this year, 22 local government units were nominated as finalists.

“We are certain that all the 22 programs deserve to be recognized, documented, and shared nationwide and even globally for replication,” Galing Pook Chairperson Mel Sarmiento said.

He added that each of the local government unit demonstrated the desire of Filipinos for effective and excellent leadership from our local governments, especially during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The finalists have shown adaptive and innovative responses amid the COVID-19 pandemic, in which ten of them will be awarded as the most outstanding among local governance programs nationwide.

Galing Pook chief urged the stakeholders, especially all government leaders, to witness the awarding ceremony on Wednesday.

“Times are tough, but we have a renewed sense of hope and inspiration from our LGUs that have shown us good governance is still a reality in our country. Join us as we celebrate our country’s sources of hope and inspiration.” Sarmiento cited.

The awarding will be held in Zoom and will be live streamed at the Galing Pook Foundation Facebook page. (JMB/PIA-IDPD)
