CALOOCAN CITY (PIA) -- President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (PRRD) called on local government units (LGUs) to pass ordinances to restrict minors and unvaccinated persons in malls.
“I am calling all local government units to consider passing ordinances for age restriction among minors who can be allowed to go to the malls,” PRRD said during his Talk to the People on Monday, Nov. 17.
Duterte emphasized that we cannot allow those below 12 years old or still unvaccinated to be at risk of COVID-19 in public places.
Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles stated in his briefing on Tuesday that the call of the President for LGUs to consider passing ordinances is ‘very clear’.
Nograles added that the decision should still be scientific-based and based on the advice of health experts at the national or local level.
The acting spokesperson reiterated PRRD’s reminder to all parents and guardians of unvaccinated minors to be mindful of the risk when going outside. (JMB/PIA-IDPD)
