Dupax Del Norte gets Pesticide Residue Testing Lab from DA

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - -The local government unit of Dupax del Norte recently acquired a Mini Pesticide Residue Testing Laboratory (MPRTL) from the Department of Agriculture (DA) as part of their partnership in support of the Balanced Pesticide Use Strategy (BPUS) for farmers.

The MPRTL was launched with the  Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita market outlet in barangay Malasin in Dupax del Norte town, recognized by the DA as  one of the suppliers of pesticide residue-safe vegetables and fruits and practitioners of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in Cagayan Valley.

Mayor Joseph Timothy Cayton praised the DA for the provision of the MPRTL considering that farmers in their municipality will benefit from facility.

“The launching of this project will give so much benefit to my constituents realizing its effectiveness and benefits. To DA, we are partners in realizing this vision, to empower our farmers,” he said.

Cayton also assured the DA officials that the local government has already allocated funds in support of the implementation of Food Safety Program.

“As long as I am the municipal mayor of Dupax Del Norte, I will always have the unwavering devotion to support this program and all the programs of the Department of Agriculture (DA) so we can attain a healthy and sustainable food system as well as achieving famers’ profitability,” Cayton said.

The launching program was attended by DA Regional officials led by Ma. Rosario Paccarangan, DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (DA-AMAD) Chief, members of farmers cooperatives and associations.(MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
