DDO talks, vaccinates religious leaders against COVID-19

Having doubts about the vaccine before the activity, Pastor Roberto Habagat of God's Family Fellowship decided to get vaccinated against COVID-19 for the protection of his family, church members, and those he will mingle with.

DAVAO CITY, November 16 (PIA) - - “When I have problems with my spirituality, I go to my religious leaders. When it comes to the stability and aesthetics of my house, I consult the engineers and architects. Now, I do hope na sa kabahin sa panglawas (on matters of health), you will believe us, the doctors and scientist.”

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Antoino Ybiernas Jr. appealed to the leaders of the different churches in Nabunturan to put their trust in the doctors on matters of health, especially in this time of the pandemic.

Dr. Ybiernas stressed the forum was a great avenue to debunk false information that the participants may have gotten from different sources.

The health officer also encouraged the religious leaders to get vaccinated and help the government to generate more demands on the vaccine from their church members.

A total of 103 religious leaders from the different churches in Nabunturan participated in the event.

Pastor Roberto Habagat of God's Family Fellowship is among those who attended the forum and got inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Pastor Habagat admitted during the forum that he had doubts about the vaccine because of what he had heard in the news about some anti-vaccine doctors, and personalities; and also because he was gotten sick during the pandemic.

However, he decided to get vaccination after the forum because as he said, the Bible stated to respect the government that governs the people.

After vaccination, Pastor Habagat urged the public to get vaccinated as well and will help in promoting the vaccine in the church.

“Giawhag nako ang tanan, regardless of what is the denomination nga na belong mo, mga kaigsuonan ko ni Kristo, ako nagadasig ko sa inyo nga ang pagpavaccine dili makadaot, kundili maghatag kanag proteksyon sa pamilya unang-una; sa kaparentehan, mga kaigsuonan sa simbahan; ug ang  imong makahalobilo nga malikay pud sila sa peligro.” (I encourage everyone, regardless of the denomination they belong, brothers and sisters of Christ, I tell you that the vaccines are not harmful; lest instead it will give protection first and foremost to our family; to our relatives, brothers and sisters in the church; and to those who will mingle with, so that they will not be in danger also.)
