DOH Calabarzon opens Isolation facility in Tagkawayan

CALAMBA CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Health Calabarzon (DOH CALABARZON) will be able to serve more Covid-19 patients in Quezon province following the inauguration of a new Temporary Treatment and Monitoring at the Maria L. Eleazar General Hospital (MELGH) last November 18.

Local officials including Quezon Fourth District Representative Helen Tan and Tagkawayan Mayor Carlo Eleazar joined MELGH Hospital Chief Reynaldo Florido and Dr. Ruby Ephraim M. Rubiano, Medical Chief at the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital personally witnessed the inauguration ceremony for the new treatment facility.

In his message, DOH Calabarzon Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo said the Marial L. Eleazar General Hospital facility is a product of the partnership between the local government and the rest of the community.

“This is another example of the saying “kung gusto ay may paraan” at kasama dito ang pagtutulungan ng ating lokal na pamahalaan at ng komunidad upang maisakatuparan ang ganito kahalagang mga proyekto para sa ating bayan,” Janairo said.

According to the DOH Calabarzon, the MLEGH facility was constructed with a budget of Php9,306,000.00 under the Under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.

With an area of  446.05 sq meters, the facility includes a five-bed-mild case ward with toilet and bath, four-bed severe case ward with ante room with toilet and bath, decontamination room, nurse station with toilet and bath, doffing/donning room, medical supply room and a staff pantry.

Aside from the TTMF, a six-unit modular temporary facility was also inaugurated with three isolation rooms with toilet and bath, patients waiting area, consultation room, PWD toilet, doctors’ quarters and staff toilet and bath. It has an area of 74.77 sq meters and has a budget allocation of Php2,387,704.72.

The DOH Calabarzon said the MLEGH-TTMF will cater primarily to suspected, probable, and confirmed COVID-19 cases with mild symptoms.

More medical services are also expected to be delivered in MLEGH, now that a total of 11 doctors are serving at the facility.

“Pagtutulungan ang susi upang lahat ng pangarap nating magawa sa ating bayan ay maisakatuparan. Lahat ng plano ay maaring gawin sa tamang panahon at sa tamang pakikipagtulungan sa mga taong may kaisang layunin,” Jainairo continues, assuring the continuous improvement of the facilities at MLEGH.

The MLEGH-TTMF is expected to open as a Level III Health Care Facility that will provide the necessary medical and healthcare services in the province.  (PB/DOH 4A)
