Ilocos Norte to drop COVID-19 tests for fully vaxed tourists

LAOAG CITY, Nov 22 (PIA) – Good news for tourists coming to Ilocos Norte next month!

The provincial government plans to drop COVID-19 testing protocols for fully immunized tourists starting December 1.

“I am proud to announce and reveal that on December 1, we will also be dropping our test requirements for fully vaccinated tourists. We want to make it easier for people to travel north and to enjoy everything that we have to offer in Ilocos Norte,” said Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc during the launching of “I’m IN Luv and Find the One Travel Fair” in San Juan, La Union.

Fully vaccinated tourists from Risk Level 1, 2, or 3 are no longer mandated to present a negative COVID-19 test result or take any testing when coming to Ilocos Norte. A valid vaccination card suffices their entry to the province.

On the other hand, tourists who are unvaccinated and partially vaccinated, and those coming from Risk Level 4 are still required to provide one of the following documents: a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival, an antigen test taken within 24 hours upon arrival, or an antigen test at the borders of Ilocos Norte.

Apart from the testing protocols for tourists, fully vaccinated returning residents of Ilocos Norte are freed from the hassle of COVID-19 tests as the the province is under Alert Level 2.

“We want to start relaxing the protocols especially to our residents. If they are fully vaccinated, no need to conduct test from them,” said Manotoc.
