Parents urged to spare kids from going to malls

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Nov. 18 (PIA) -- The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Head of the Municipal Government of Kapalong, Dr. Mary Grace Lagang-Abuda reminded the citizens of Davao Del Norte to keep their children safe from the threats of COVID-19 by not bringing them to the malls.

In a radio program, Dr. Abuda said that if parents truly love their children, they will not bring them to the malls as other parents did to prevent them from contracting the COVID-19 virus.

"About atong sa mall, parents na magdala ug mga bata, if you love your children, kung tinood nga gi-love ninyo inyong children, protect them kay isa na sa ilahang rights, ang protection ( On the issue of parents bringing their children in malls, if you truly love your children, don't bring them there and protect them because it is one their rights to be protected)," Dr. Abuda said.

She also emphasized that most of the children are not vaccinated and complications for children are unpredictable.

"So kabalo ta, karon luag-luag na, pero isipon nato atong mga bata, dili pa sila vaccinated, unsa nalang simbako kung mataptan sila, wala ta kabalo (We all know now that restrictions are loosen but we have to think that kids are not vaccinated and we don't know what might happen to them when they get the virus)," she explained.

Dr. Abuda also compared the temporary happiness of bringing the children to malls to the possibility of contracting the virus.

"Kung baga ba ang happiness na gihatag ninyo sa ilaha karon, for one day lang pero ang suffering tingali kung naa silay makuha simbako na sakit, basin pagsisihan nato sa huli (The happiness you will give them now is just temporary but the suffering they wll have to endure might be regretful for us parents)," her statement reads.

"So atoa diha, think twice gyud ug mu-follow gyud ta sa mga COVID-19 health protocols (To the parents out there, always think twice before considering bringing children to malls and always follow the COVID-19 health protocols)," her reminders to parents and guardians.
