DAVAO CITY, Nov. 19 (PIA)- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority XI aims in promoting quality skills development of the Students who would represent Davao Region to the Philippine National Skills Competition that will be set on December this year and to compete against the standards set by the World Skills Organization in the international scene.
TESDA XI Regional Director Engr. Lorenzo G. Macapili bared during the Opening Ceremony of the Regional Skills Competition held at the TESDA XI Regional Training Center, KORPHIL Vocational Training Center in Buhisan, Tibungco, Davao City on November 15, 2021.
The program was seen to have benefitted the education, private and government sector due to the level of skills and competencies of the workers in the field of Mechatronics, Prototype Modelling, Web Designing, plumbing, carpentry and other relevant courses.
In a separate interview, Director Macapili said, “they do not compete among themselves, what they are going to compete is against the standards set by the World Skills Organizing Committee”.
For the knowledge base society, Director Macapili added “Kinahanglan maayo ang cognitive, effective and of course the psycho motor, plus the live skills, so dire kompleto nani, so they will be train how to work as a team,” (It’s necessary that the cognitive and psycho motor plus the live skills are really good and effective. So, it is complete here).
During the Opening Ceremony, there are 3O competitors from different skills area like and provinces in Davao Region under the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program. The competition will run from November 16-18 and November 23 – 25, 2021 in RTC-KPVTC Davao, Philippine Women’s College of Davao and Phil. Hair & Beauty Life Skills Inc.
In a short message read by Director Macapili, Davao City Mayor Zara Duterte- Carpio congratulates the Officials, Staff and Competitors for this year's Regional Skills Competition of TESDA XI and encourages to inspire improvement towards success.
Mayor Duterte - Carpio said, "This competition is a great opportunity for you, the best graduates and skilled workers in the region to showcase your talents and skills in your respective fields. This also opens a chance to explore different types of technique and expertise of your craft. Because, while this is a competition, this is also an opportunity to improve and learn from one another. We are hopeful that this year's winner will ably represents the Davao Region in the National Skills Competition. May this year's TESDA XI Regional Skills Competition inspire you to keep honing your skills and reach for success in all that you do."
Among the highlights of the event were the Chain Cutting and Torch Lighting where delegates and provincial directors from different provinces gathered and witnessed the symbolic event in-front of the Training Center led by Director Macapili.
Another round of competition that will be set next year 2022 in Shanghai, China for the World Skills Asia Olympic which TESDA already produced gold medalist in the international skills competition coming from NCR and other regions. (PIA XI/ Elvira May Suico)
