BARMM to provide food packs during 3-day vax drive

COTABATO CITY (PIA) -- The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) will provide relief goods to poor and vulnerable individuals from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) during the 3-day vaccination campaign against Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on November 29 to December 1, which aims to encourage more residents to get vaccinated.

MSSD Minister Atty. Raisa Jajurie announced in a press conference on Monday that their office will set-up desks in select areas to extend food relief to qualified vaccinees during the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” initiative.

“We are preparing the implementation plan to provide food packs to poor, senior citizen, differently abled, and indigent individuals as part of our support to the Ministry of Health,” Atty. Jajurie said.

The official cited that they will work with MOH to further boost the vaccine acceptance among their program beneficiaries and partners.

Earlier this month, BARMM was reported to have the lowest vaccination rate against COVID-19.

The MOH responded, on calls to increase the daily administered doses, through partnership with sectoral groups, the Bangsamoro Parliament, and non-government organizations.

Meanwhile, the MOH targets 985,000 individuals to be vaccinated during the campaign period which hopes to contribute to the 15 million national target.

Dr. Bashary Latiph, MOH minister, assured the public that the region has enough supply of vaccine to administer in the coming days.

The Ministry also urged the Bangsamoro people to get vaccinated as this may soon be required in entering government and commercial establishments. (ACB/PIA Cotabato City)
