DAVAO CITY, 19 Nov (PIA) --- Vaccination has made this year much better says Undersecretary Ramon Cualoping of the Philippine Information Agency XI
“This year is proof. Compared last year, this year is much better because there is vaccine,” he said in a press conference on Nov. 19 with Regional Director Alex Roldan of the Dept of Interior and Local Government (DLIG) XI and with Regional Director Annabelle Yumang of the Department of Health (DOH) XI.
He looked back at how sober the situation was last year during which there was silence with a number of those who contracted COVID-19 severely suffered and some even succumbed to death.
“November and December last year, mingaw kaayo but because we have vaccinated more than half of the target population, we are much better now. Wala na kaayo’y nangamatay, wala na kaayoy na ICU (Lesser have died and only a few were on ICU),” he said
Meanwhile, Cualoping emphasized the messaging on massive vaccination that is also in line with the call of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte “to vaccinate as many people as possible.”
“It is very simple; for us to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to vaccinate as many people as possible. Without vaccination, we cannot move forward,” he emphasized.
He made it clear that government agencies under the umbrella of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) or the communications group of the national government share the same messaging” for the country to get out of the cyclical lockdown when COVID-19 cases take an uptick.
“For us not to go cyclical, for us to move forward is for us to have population protection. And this can only happen when everyone is vaccinated,” he said.
Cualoping made it clear that the government “is doing everything for us to bounce back from this pandemic, and it is also upon us to do our part in helping one another”. (PIA XI/ Jeanevive Duron Abangan)
