KALIBO, Aklan, (PIA) -- Aklan’s student nurses from 3 schools here – the Aklan State University (ASU), Aklan Catholic College (ACC) and Aklan Polytechnic College (APC) will be rendering help as the province conducts the Bayanihan Bakunahan National Vaccination Day from November 29 to December 1, 2021.
According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO) here, these nurses, together with the PHO and Department of Health (DOH) staff, will be visiting several municipalities in the province to reach more individuals who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The PHO recently held an orientation for these student nurses and other volunteer nurses to prepare them for the National Vaccination Day.
During the scheduled National Vaccination Days, the province of Aklan targets to vaccinate 79,521 Aklanons.
Per record of the DOH as seen in its daily COVID-19 Bulletin for Region 6, Aklan has currently 605,584 total population.
Of these number, the province aims to vaccinate 427,664 eligible population which is equivalent to 70 % to attain herd immunity.
Per latest record from the PHO, there are 145,262 Aklanons now fully vaccinated, equivalent to 33.97%, while those who got their first dose reached 244,736.
The Bayanihan Bakunahan campaign aims to vaccinate 15 million individuals through mobilization of other government agencies, local government units, (LGUs), civil society organizations (CSO)and private sector partners across the country’s 17 regions. (AAL/VGV/PIA6 Aklan)
