COTABATO CITY (PIA) -- The City Government of Cotabato is targeting to vaccinate 54,377 individuals during the three-day national COVID-19 National Vaccination Days (NVD) dubbed "Bayanihan, Bakunahan" from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, according to City Health Officer, Dr. Meyasser Patadon on Friday.
In a press conference at the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (D0H-CHD) Soccsksargen Region headquarters here, Dr. Patadon reported that the city has fully vaccinated against COVID-19 the 30% or 66,695 of the target population while 47% or 103,800 has been inoculated with first dose.
Some 47,000, however, remained unvaccinated which the city government intends to inoculate during the duration of the NVD.
Dr. Patadon confirmed that the city government is now ready for the said event with a total of 57 vaccination cites, and hundreds of volunteers from public and private sectors to accommodate the high vaccine demand for 3 days.
“Aside from the 8 major vaccination hubs, we added 49 mobiles vaccination sites across the city to ensure accessibility of vaccines,” he cited.
The city also received support from the Notre Dame University, offering 60 nursing students to serve as volunteers to be deployed in key vaccination areas.
Meanwhile, DOH-CHD Soccsksargen National Immunization Program Medical Coordinator Dr. Edvir Jane Montañer stressed that measures are being implemented together with different local government units and barangay officials to encourage more residents to get vaccinated. (ACB/PIA Cotabato City)
