PH logs 975 new COVID-19 cases

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Philippines recorded a total of 975 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total caseload in the country to 2,829,618, according to the Department of Health (DOH), Thursday.

Based on the latest DoH case bulletin, the fresh infections pushed the country’s active cases to 17,796, of which 52.7 percent are mild, 5.4 percent are asymptomatic, 6 percent are severe, and 14.4 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s Covid-19 death toll is now at 47,875 after 193 new fatalities were recorded. 

Meanwhile, the recoveries rose to 2,763,947 after 1,029 more patients recovered from the respiratory disease.

Out of the 62,369 individuals who were screened for Covid-19 on 23 November, 2.8 percent or a total of 38,961 turned out positive.

The DoH noted that 17 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 15 are recoveries.

Moreover, 181 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the agency added.

The DOH also said that two labs were not operational on 23 November 2021, while three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data in the last 14 days, the five non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.2 percent of positive individuals,” it added. (PIA-NCR)
