Ilocos Norte targets 100k vaccinees on Nat’l Vax Days

LAOAG CITY, Nov 28 (PIA) – The Provincial Health Office in Ilocos Norte is eyeing to vaccinate 100,000 residents on the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan National COVID-19 Vaccination Days” to be held on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

This follows after the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte on the observance of the three-day nationwide vaccination rollout through Proclamation No. 1253.

This aims to facilitate and expedite jabs of unvaccinated individuals in the whole country in line with the ongoing inoculation drive of the government.

“This is also intended to mobilize all local chief executives, stakeholders, community, and logistics to facilitate vaccination of at least 100,000 individuals in three days,” said Dr. Josephine Ruedas, Provincial Health Officer, during the fourth quarter joint meeting of Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC).

As of November 24, about 240,770 Ilokanos are now fully vaccinated which is 56 percent of the total target population to achieve herd immunity which is at 431,801.

Meanwhile, there are about 339,134 residents that are partially vaccinated, which is 79 percent of the herd immunity target population.

On the vaccination days, Ruedas informed they will also be aggressively vaccinating the pediatric group or those who belong in the 12-17 years old age category.

“Ang ating provincial bakuna center ay sa Northern Christian College (NCC) sa Laoag City. Kaya naman tulung-tulong tayo na mag-convince din sa mga adults na magpabakuna para ma-achieve natin ang herd immunity para sa tuluy-tuloy na proteksyon ng ating mga kailian,” said the local health officer.

Basing from the proclamation of the president, employees and workers from the government and private sector who will be participating in the vaccination days will not be considered absent. (JCR/MJTAB, PIA Ilocos Norte)
