CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — The Department of Health Region 4A and local government units in Calabarzon are all set for the three-day ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ nationwide simultaneous vaccination activities which starts on Monday, November 29.
DOH 4A Regional Director Ariel Valencia on Saturday, Nov. 27 assured Calabarzon residents that necessary preparations and plans are all in place to vaccinate some 3 million individuals in the next three days.
Valencia said at least 174 vaccination teams from the DOH 4A will be strategically deployed in various provinces to augment the health human resources capacity of LGUs, especially those with low vaccination coverage and situated in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas in the region.
“Together with the local government units, our target is to vaccinate 1 million a day. We have a total of 174 vaccination teams strategically located in various provinces where people can get their vaccine,” Valencia said.
Additional health workers from the National Capital Region, including volunteers and staff from the DOH Central and Regional Office will also be deployed to different vaccination sites during the three-day vaccination activities, according to Valencia.
Assuring that the vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration are safe and effective, Valencia urged all unvaccinated residents to join the massive vaccination drive and get themselves immunized against Covid-19.
“Huwag na po tayong mamili pa ng brand ng vaccine dahil lahat ng ito ay ligtas gamitin. These vaccines will protect you and your family and I encourage you to proceed to your nearest vaccination centers during the 3-day vaccination day and get vaccinated. Let us do our part in helping eliminate Covid-19,” the regional health chief stressed.
Available vaccines that will be used are Sinovac, Moderna, Gamaleya Sputnik V, Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
Calabarzon seeks to inoculate at some 3 million individuals or at least 1 million per day, in an effort to achieve population protection before the year ends.
Cavite gets the biggest share of the region’s vaccination target which seeks to inoculate at least 722,217 residents; followed by Rizal with 615,581; Laguna, 604,698; Batangas, 596,193; Quezon, 396,732; and Lucena City which targets to vaccinate some 63,579 residents.
“We will strengthen our efforts and health promotion activities in these areas at kung kailangang magbahay-bahay upang kumbinsihin ang mga residente na magpabakuna ay gagawin namin upang maibigay ang proteksiyon kinakailangan nila laban sa Covid virus,” Valencia stressed.
The DOH 4A said it has sought the help of various regional agencies such as the Department of the Interior and Local Govenrment, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Department of Education, for the three-day vaccination drive.
It has also tapped the Department of Labor and Employment to ramp up vaccination of workers in various economic zones in the region during the nationwide simultaneous vaccination activities. — with reports from DOH 4-A
