CUDMC marks holiday season with tree lighting, belens

Dr. Ma. Raul Carmela Combate delivers her inspirational message.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Cagayan United Doctors Medical Center of Tuguegarao City, Inc. (CUDMC) became a festive place this holiday season as staff lighted their trees and unveiled their different types of "belen" or Nativity scenes to start the hospital's first ever Christmas celebration.

Dr. Ma. Raul Carmela Combate, deputy medical director of the CUDMC said that they used indigenous materials and recycled hospital waste to decorate the trees and belens.

“This is the start of the Christmas celebration here at CUDMC. For the lighting of the trees, when we built the hospital, we preserved the trees, it is just proper to give due respect,” Dr. Combate said.

She said that the activity will be followed by an outreach program on December 11 at the Agta community in Peñablanca, Cagayan.

“We are going to have the charity project, because we would like to share with you that there is a reason to give what we receive [in excess]. Iyun ang gusto namin iparamdam sa inyo na kahit ganito lang tayo, e marunong tayo magbigay sa kapwa natin,” the doctor said.

The ten Christmas trees and belens decorated by the different hospital departments will compete for the most creative display on December 15, while a Christmas party will be held on the 17th.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mildred Banatao, CUDMC’s administrative manager, welcomed all the staff in the hospital's first ever Christmas celebration opposite the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic drove the most of the nation into celebrating occassions virtually.

“This will be a memorable Christmas celebration at the CUDMC," Banatao said as she thanked all staff who attended the event. (JKC/ADS/PIA Cagayan)
