‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ in Laguna jabbed 259K residents

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — Laguna sets a new record on its vaccination efforts as more than 259,000 Laguna residents received Covid-19 jab during the three-day Bayanihan Bakunahan massive vaccination drive, which concludes on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Data from the Department of Health Region 4-A show Laguna ranks second among the provinces nationwide which shares the biggest output of Covid-19 jab administered across the country, inoculating at least 259,642 individuals.

Of this number, 225,500 received their first of the Covid-19 vaccines while 2,451 get their second jab, completing the doses needed to have protection against severe symptons of Covid-19.

At least 6,691 eligible individuals who sought for booster and additional shot were also given the Covid-19 jab during the three-day mass vaccination drive.

Laguna has exceeded the 210,000 adjusted vaccination target committed by the Provincial Health Office and the DOH 4-A.

Governor Ramil Hernandez thanked the barangay officials, local chief executives, government agencies, and the private sector for the support they have extended during the three-day vaccination drive.

“Lahat pong ito ay hindi makukuha ng provincial government without the support of our barangays, without the support of our mayors, the private sector, and government agencies,” Hernandez said.

“Taos puso naman po akong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga kasamahan ko sa LGU at sa mga doctor, nurses, iba pang healthcare workers, at mga volunteers na naglaan ng kanilang serbisyo para maisagawa ng maayos ang ating mga bakunahan. Dahil po sa inyong suporta at dedikasyon ay napagtagumpayan natin ang ating layunin,” the governor added.

Hernandez said the provincial government will be holding a ‘provincial vaccination day’ on December 13, aside from the second round of the Bayanihan Bakunahan on December 15-17, to vaccinate more Laguna residents against the disease.

The Laguna Govenor added that the provincial government will give incentives to those local government units that will attain the vaccination target set for the provincewide massive vaccination activities on December 13.

Hernandez hopes that the incentive scheme would motivate LGUs to boost their vaccination efforts.

New systems and mechanisms based on the results of their assessment in the recently concluded ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan’ national vaccination days will also be set in place, according to Hernandez. — FC, PIA Laguna
