Apayao vaccination reaches 72% of target population

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The COVID – 19 vaccination program in Apayao is on track of achieving the target of 70 percent of the population vaccinated by the end of the year.

As of November 15 data of the Provincial Health Office, of the target 70% of the population or 87,310 individuals, Apayao already vaccinated 62,706 or 72% with at least one dose.  42,939 individuals (49%) are already fully vaccinated. A total of 98,323 vaccine doses were administered to the   eligible population.

Per municipality, Luna is leading with 78% of the target population already fully inoculated.  Sta Marcela, Flora, Calanasan and Pudtol are all over 50% of their targets.

For priority groups, Apayao has vaccinated 100 percent of its frontline health workers and for senior citizens or A2, partially and fully vaccinated stand at 65 and 64%, respectively. For adults with comorbidities (A3), about 10% of the target got inoculated.  For A5 or the poor population, of the 16,502 target,    partially vaccinated is already at 81% while   fully vaccinated is at 43%.

Apayao also started vaccinating children 12 – 17 years old, As of Nov. 15 data, 19 pediatric A3 vaccinated and 4,448 other under the Rest of the Pediatric Population group received their first dose.


Department of Health – Cordillera Assistant Regional Director Dr. Amelita Pangilinan  who led a DOH – CAR team that visited all the municipalities of Apayao to look into their vaccination activities and accomplishments, congratulated  the provincial government and all the local chief executives for their strong support to the national vaccination program.


Pangilinan also acknowledged the strong commitment of the health care workers and other members of the local vaccination teams that   with their help Apayao is on track of vaccinating by at least one dose the target 70 percent of the population by end of the year. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
