CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) - Isabela and the Local Government Unit of Sto. Tomas recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement(MOA) to establish a Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development (Tech4Ed) center.
Under the agreement, the local government unit of Sto. Tomas will be providing an area or center while the DICT will ensure its internet connectivity and computers in the center.
The MOA signing was made between DICT Isabela head Cirilo Gazzingan Jr and a representative of Mayor Antonio Talaue Sr. held at the Municipal Hall.
Gazzingan said the center is a self-sustaining, shared facility providing access to ICT-enabled services and relevant contents to be used by Sto. Tomas residents.
“This center will serve as a conduit for efficient delivery of government and other services and a potent tool for the empowerment and participation of the unserved and underserved communities in development,” he said.
Gazzingan said the center will also harness ICT to bridge the digital divide and alleviate poverty in both urban and rural areas which serves as e-learning center for free use of computers with internet connectivity to the public.
“The center will give communities access to information, communication, technology, government services, non-formal education, skills training, telehealth, job markets, and business portals,” he said. (BME/MGE/PIA Isabela)
