BANAUE, Ifugao (PIA) - - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in partnership with the provincial local government unit, led the conduct of localized "Dagyaw" Open Government Virtual Town Hall Meeting on December 7 highlighted by the State of the Province Address (SOPA).
Governor Jerry Dalipog in his SOPA reported the accomplishments of the administration for the past two years on banner programs on social, economic, infrastructure and government administrative services amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic that broke up shortly after he assumed office.
But he noted that much are still to be accomplished, thus he enjoined the continuing support and cooperation of the people.
"For us, this pandemic was never an excuse not to work. Instead, it challenged us more to accomplish our tasks as your leaders without sacrificing the health and safety of the Ifugao people most especially that we have this mission of ensuring the collective well-being and happiness of every Ifugao. Guided by this mission and always being aware of the core values of respectfulness, integrity, cooperation and excellence, we have done our best to deliver. There are still a lot to be done for our province so that we could deliver the necessary services that is why I am soliciting your support and cooperation for the remaining time of our administration. ”
The first provincial “Dagyaw” with the theme,”Improving Social Accountability in Local Service Delivery “was attended by heads of national line agencies, PLGU department heads, and local officials.
Congressman Solomon Chungalao assured the continuous support of his office to the provincial government. “We will be hundred percent behind and supportive to the programs of the provincial government,” he said.
Other highlights of the “Dagyaw” were the launching of the 2021 "Gotad" Coffee-table book that contains the development journey of Ifugao since it became an independent province from June 18, 1966 up to the present, and the provincial awarding of the "Lupong Tagapamayapa" Incentive Awards to the winners.
In the afternoon, the 4th Quarter Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council and End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) Convergence Meeting was conducted.
“Dagyaw” is a Hiligaynon word that translates to togetherness or bayanihan, where citizens come together to engage in dialogue with the government regarding its programs, services, issues and initiative. It aims to build mutual trust between and among government and the people by providing an open, neutral and protected space of dialogue. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
