TESDA XI holds 2021 Regional CTEC Congress

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Dec. 14 (PIA) – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region XI today, December 14, 2021, holds the Regional Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTECs) Congress at the Royale House Travel Inn and Dormitel, Tagum City.

In his message, TESDA Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña highlighted the contribution of the CTECs in the delivery of the provincial Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs through their initiatives. Lapeña also thanked them for always supporting the projects and programs of TESDA in their respective provinces.

The discussion included the policy shift of the agency to Area-based and Demand-Driven TVET by Rosalina S. Constantino, Executive Director of TESDA Planning Office, and the Role of Industry Boards in TVET Governance by  Sonia S. Lipio, Executive Director of TESDA Partnership and Linkages Office.

To better respond to the vital requirements of companies and stakeholders, Constantino said TESDA has transitioned from a supply-driven to a more demand-driven and area-based TVET model.

She also enumerated the steps on the new approach to TVET implementation (in order); Industry Scanning and Organizing, Skills Mapping, Function Analysis, and Competence Standard Development, Competency-Based Curriculum Development, Institutional Assessment Tool Development, Regional Lead Trainer Development and Capability Training for Trainers Development, and lastly, Program Registration.

Lipio also discussed how the industry boards are formed and how they will help in the TVET governance.

In her presentation, industry boards are now composed of employers, laborers, learning institutions, and the government. Together, they will as industry bodies who will ensure the effective implementation of TVET programs.

Participants in the said congress are the CTECs in various provinces of the Davao Region participating in either virtual or face-to-face platforms. (PIA XI Davao del Norte/jmda/Ezri M. Coda, Jr.)
