CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)-10 celebrates its 27th anniversary with a drive for excellence as core competency in providing health insurance especially amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Regional Vice President Delio A. Aseron II, in a media forum dubbed 'Talakayan sa PIA' at SM City Cagayan de Oro, shared his three-fold thrust for the region: Communication with partners and stakeholders on benefits of PhilHealth, Drive for excellence and continuous improvement on existing policies and processes, and Offering Proactive Assistance and engagement with local partners, media, partner hospitals, and clients.
Aseron also assured that PhilHealth will do its best to maintain a direct line between agency and clients for concerns, complaints, or reports of fraud.
A total of 82 cases against employers have been filed for upcasing and fraud. Aseron explained that upcasing are those cases where the hospital will elevate a finding to a more critical condition to claim more from Philhealth.
While Aseron named no hospitals suspected of any fraud or upcasing, he said that they continue to conduct extensive investigation. He added that these hospitals and healthcare providers remain to be our ‘pandemic heroes.’
With February as Heart Month, Aseron shared that the Philhealth provides benefit packages for open heart surgeries: coronary artery bypass graft surgery–P550,000, surgery for the correction of tetralogy of fallot–P320,000, and surgery for closure of ventricular septal defect–P250,000.
Meanwhile other benefit packages for the heart include: heart valve disorders–P8,400, congenital heart diseases P11,600, and hypertension–P9,000.
Philhealth also provides online assistance for those who want to transact via the internet.
Aseron shared that they have opened the PhilHealth Virtual Front Desk (PVFD) https://pvfd.philhealth.gov.ph to ensure they can accommodate clients with a live virtual assistant. This online format is available from Monday to Friday 8am-5pm except holidays. (JMOR/PIA-10)
