PSA compiles Antique’s benchmark on Product Accounts

SAN JOSE, ANTIQUE (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) here will compile the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) of the province this 2022.

PSA Antique Officer-In-Charge  Randy M. Tacogdoy said that consistent with the gross domestic product (GDP) at the national and regional level, the PPA has long been demanded by the planners and policymakers as a means to provide a suitable measure of economic performance at the subregional level, and as a source of indicators to monitor the economic development or progress at the local level.

This will also provide stakeholders both in the government and private institutions as well as those in the academe with sound indicators for evidence-based policies at the local level, he said.

According to him, the PPA will be compiled consistently with the framework of the System of National Accounts.

The GDP of the province will be estimated using the production approach.

The PPA compilation activities in the province will be done along with other provinces and highly urbanized cities (HUCs) of Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN.

Workshops and consultations with the stakeholders, training and other capacity-building activities, validation workshops, field visits, and dissemination fora will be conducted while the final PPA output is expected to be released by December 2022.

Tacogdoy also pointed out that the PPA is envisioned to be completed in all provinces and HUCs in the country by 2024 and be institutionalized starting 2025. (JBG/PSA/PIA-Antique)
