PARAÑAQUE CITY (PIA) -- The National Tuberculosis Control Program has been in the Philippines since 1978 but the local government of Taguig is ramping up its TB care and prevention services to save lives, especially at this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In celebration of World Tuberculosis Day, the local government provided free chest x-ray screening to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries and PAP members to assist in the early TB detection and lessen the cost of TB treatment for an affected household.
The LGU brought the free TB screening to North Daang Hari Barangay Hall, South Signal Batman Court, and San Miguel Health Center Parking.
For those looking to use the service, it will be available on March 24 at Balagtas Court Old Lower Bicutan, and Maharlika Elementary School on March 25.
Because lung complications are one of the leading causes of death among Filipinos, the Taguig City Government is committed to safeguarding Taguigeos and ensuring their good health despite the pandemic's limitations.
Celebrated every March, this year’s National Tuberculosis Day theme is “Invest To End TB. Save Lives.” (Taguig PIO/PIA-NCR)
