“Mabuti na lang talaga, balita ko marunong talaga maglangoy ang mga
taga Capiz (It’s really good that the residents knew how to swim)," he said in jest following an aerial inspection to assess the damages of floodwaters and remaining flooded areas in the province.
Based on the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PRRMO) data, Agaton and Inter Tropical Convergence Zone - induced rains from April 8 to 12 have affected 365 of the 473
barangays in the province with floodwaters and sent 52,392 families or 215,890 individuals to the evacuation centers as well as safer grounds.
"Mga fans ko yan na taga Cotabato. May ara taga Maranao diri? (They are my fans from Cotabato. Are there Maranaos here?)," he asked, drawing amusement to the floodwater displaced families at the
evacuation center.
The President's eloquence in Bisaya and Hilgaynon languages also spiced up the mood at the venue.
The Chief Executive also made a renewed offer to communist rebels to surrender, saying he is willing to give them shelter and other aid.
"But I am happy na pinagbigyan ako ng panahon to fly here and talk to you at least maski na papaano may maiwan ako na konti para sa inyo," he noted. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
