DICT to establish 400 WiFi towers in Quirino province

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The provincial government here and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have started to build WiFi towers in all barangays in this province and are expected to be completed in three years. 

Provincewide Broadband Project was already starded last year (2021) and expected to be completed in three (3) years.

Based on the Quirino Province Facebook post, around 400 towers will be established in all the barangays to help the residents with their internet needs in accessing online government services in the fields of education, business, health, general communication, tourism and others.

In an interview with Governor Dax Cua, he said that the project was conceptualized to help the students cope with their studies during the pandemic where some classes are conducted online.

Also, the governor said the residents will have a chance to access online government services and programs such as securing permits, business license, birth certificates, death certificates of departed loved ones, marriage certificates and even payment of fees.

Furthermore, the project is expected to boost the businesses of the small and medium enterprises, farmers, plantitos and plantitas because they will have opportunities to learn modern ways of planting and they can already sell their products via online markets.

Thru the project, patients will no longer need to travel to hospitals for consultation because can already avail of the online consultation or telemedicine services.

The project is also expected to boost the tourism industry of the province as tourists can easily find their tourism destinations and through vlogs, photos and reviews posted in the social media which eventually promote the province in the entire world.

Also, according to the Quirino Province Page, the broadband network is a priority project of Gov. Cua and Congressman Junie Cua in support to their goal of putting up a modern society for the Quirinians. (TCB/PIA Quirino)
