Labor Day job fair employers urged to accept more workers

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 4-A encouraged participating employers of this year's Labor Day job fair to accept more workers to help them recover from the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

DOLE 4-A Regional Director Exequiel Ronie Guzman made the call as more Filipinos affected by establishments’ retrenchment and shutdown actively seek employment, adding that they have gone through severe challenges and sacrifices.

Over 22,000 jobs offered by 153 participating employees are up for grabs at the regionwide simultaneous job fair organized by DOLE 4-A in partnership with the different provincial governments' Public Service Employment Office (PESO).

In Laguna, the job and business fairs held at the Police Regional Office (PRO) Calabarzon headquarters at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba City offer more than 4,500 jobs to residents seeking employment.

Recognizing the labor sector workers' role and significant contributions to the country's economic recovery, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III vowed to strengthen labor policies and programs that will improve the lives of every Filipino worker.

Bello stressed that the DOLE would continue to advance more programs and projects for the welfare of local and overseas Filipino workers.

Duterte Legacy Caravan
Also joining the job and business fairs to offer various services to job seekers are representatives from government agencies such as the Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

Guzman said the event also targets to promote and showcase various government services that the public can avail as the government holds a nationwide simultaneous Duterte Legacy Caravan as part of this year’s Labor Day celebration.

Be good and productive employees
As the government continues its fight against communist terrorist groups, Guzman also called on job seekers who will be hired during the job fair to be vigilant of the deceptive propaganda of CTG-infiltrated labor organizations.

Strong gov't partnership, collaboration
Meanwhile, Police Brigadier General Antonio Yarra expressed gratitude to the DOLE 4-A for partnering with the PRO 4-A in this year’s Labor Day celebration and job fair.

In his message, Yarra emphasized that the job fair reflects the government’s continued efforts to provide jobs to Filipinos as the economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. He also recognized the significant contributions of the labor sector workers and investors as steerers of economic development in the region.

— FC, PIA Laguna
